Exactly, why is India never an option to go back? Our economy is booming. On July 2 after USCIS announcement, I was ready to go home, I had had enough of the USA.
Many years in US and all we have to show for it is 25 lb bag of immigration papers!! And struggling to maintain status!!

Dividends and Interest incomes have their own line items on 1040 (Lines 8 and 9)...The business income is reported under line items 12 and if one makes enough money from the business then there is Self Employment tax - SS and Medicare taxes (Line 56). This is the line item that might get one in trouble with USCIS..You obviously have not filed 1099-MISC yet which tells me that you don't make $600 a year from Amway yet..otherwise you would have gotten a 1099-Misc

I agree with jnayar here... but everyone keep in mind that no system is perfect. But the US employment-based system has serious flaws... especially in today's more globalised-based economy. The requirement that someone stays in the "same job role / same employer" throughout the green card process probably made sense back in the old days when people usually tend to work their entire lives for one company. Today, that no longer makes sense. Employers everywhere almost have worker turnarounds of 2 years on average. That means given the average GC process is about 6 years, you could be looking at someone potentially changing employers 3 times!
Would anyone like to continue working on the same role/salary for 6 years, given that costs of living increase annually? Of course not.
I know that Australia has a "job-based" PR process, but it doesn't bind you to one specific employer... so at least you do have the freedom to decide what job you would like to take on.
The question of immigration to which country is better would probably yield one and the same answer based on the parameters that appear relevant to most people. However, the comparison of immigration processes and systems is an entirely different question - in theory, an employment based immigration system would be a lot better if it is based on correct assumptions. However, an employmet based system that ties an employee to the same job for the duration of the application process, and which requires that the same application processing be redone every time an employee changes jobs, while curtailing the maximum period of time the employee can work in the country is flawed. If the reasoning behind this is that the employee has to show that he/she is indespensible to that one job (with all the highly specific skills that come attached to the job description) which no US citizen/resident is qualified to do, should statistics not show that the majority of positions for which green cards were applied for and obtained have the same employee continuing in that role long after the said employee gets a green card? I would be very surprised if the numbers show that a significant number of employees stick around for any period longer than a year or so in their current, gc-approved roles (and by that, I mean the exact same role for which the GC was applied for - be it with the same company or elsewhere.). In a dynamic market for labor where "skillability" and "learnability" are much more important than current skills and learning, how important is the applicability of a person's current skills to a job that would anyway keep evolving or even changing altogether, during the 6 years of so that a person is employed in that capacity while waiting for the green card?

Thats the reason every immigration bill so far related to EB has tried to resolve this issue. Anyone who says retrogression is good is either misinformed or a pychopathic specimen that needs instant mental evaluation, followed by treatment and observation in an asylum. The observation should continue for as long as it takes a typical EB3-India case to get approved. To paraphrase your quote: "The truly cured would still be observed until their turn for release comes"

Recession occurs in order to cleanse the economy of bohemian excesses and inefficiencies. Do you think that such people are sadists and belong to the mental asylum ? In a similar vein, you need to understand that there were and are huge gaping inefficiencies in the current immigration process. There has to be a way to curb these excesses and inefficiencies. More than the money, these guys are plain stalkers! They don't leave you even if you are not interested and even after blindly telling them right on their face. Anywhere you go, Costco, Walmrt, Indian grocery stores, Malls these guys are right behind you. Next time i am calling COPS and i am going to report these guys.

Because of all these experiences, even when you genuinely smile or strike a conversation with a desi, he/she first suspects you to be an ammway guy. I face it everyday, being "outgoing extrovert" in nature, I tend to smile and talk to people in elevators, walkways, malls, restrooms, groceries etc... which is mostly casual fun stuff and most times desis suspect that I am a ammway guy and cut me out harshly.

A Canadian PR has the right to enter Canada (as opposed to a US PR who does not have the right and can be denied entrance by INS).
If you have not met 2 in 5 yr obligation Canadian Immigration will question you but let you in. They will give you a date on which you will have a court date with Immigration judge. Then its up to judge and you. You will have to give good reason why you were out ( waiting for US GC is not a good reason ).
Dont know about the reapplying part. Never heard of anyone having done it.

Only US residents, who are authorized for self-employment, can run their business or home based business activities.
Can someone on H-4 visa status can run Amway baed home business? Yes/No. I know you will say "check with your accountant/lawyer" line knowing well H-4 can not be self-employed.

I understand. But it's true. I have many friends and these body shoppers don't pay for their medical insurance and all of my friends have a tough time - even Kforce etc doesn't pay if you're a contractor directly hired by them. Infosys, TCS pays and provides all kinds of benefits for people on H1, I don't know what ppl are against companies that have good business practice.
Deloitte, Accenture, IBM brings ppl from other countries on L1 - why balme Infosys, TCS.
Check what they are paying. I know a company which charges $110-$130 ph to the client and payes around $30K for the employee in L1. Is it good business practice...? Not only desi consulting cos...these a$$ also the reason we are in this mess today. Just imagine when the antis comes to know that 30K pa salary....

Why would someone subject themselves to an indefinite lifetime of indentured servitude and unease over some green card which with the ever worsening circumstances of the US economy does not have bright prospects considering it might take 5 to 10 years to get a GC? The US dollar continues to drop in value day by day yet some do not ask themselves why it is doing so. Even the Canadian dollar has made some of its highest gains against the US dollar recently. China continues to lend the US billions of dollars to an economy which is severely indebted that it is inevitable taxes will have to go up significantly in the next couple of years. US gas prices are predicted to hit $4 a gallon this summer. The truth is that the US too has major problems but some are quick to attack other countries without all the taking into consideration the glaring and gloomy outlook on the future of the US.
For others it is not entirely about the money but the peace of mind one has. One cannot equate the value of freedom to money which is what a Canadian PR affords one who comes into the country not to mention the opportunities. Those aimlessly attacking Canada and making ridiculous claims about the same, probably have never been to or lived in Canada before. If you have the right experience, qualifications and are well spoken there will not be an issue getting a well paying job in Canada.
The following are just some excerpts from the CIA world fact book, which by the way is a US government agency which pulls no punches :

In the past couple of months, EB3-ROW has been getting the same cut-off date as EB-3 CHINA. I don't see any advantage of being EB-3 ROW at all. I think USCIS set up the cut-off date based on estimation on workload, not necessarily fact. Otherwise how could move forward/backward for as long as couple of years in 1 month?
